So since I was .. mmm .. I’ll say about 7ish-8ish I have been a member of a large Baptist Church. I remember the very first time we visited on Sunday morning. The grand staircase seemed to swallow me it was so large. The sanctuary was filled with rows and rows of pews. I’d never seen a church so grand. Slowly and surely my family carved ourselves a little home in the BIG church and there my membership stayed for 20 some odd years.
Since then a lot has changed. That church that felt so large outgrew that building, built a new facility and moved, and then sadly split a few years back. This church is where I met Jesus for the first time, it’s where I was baptized (first group in the new sanctuary, thank you very much) it’s where I participated in choir, mission trips, bible studies, camps, vbs, youth group, disciple now, world changers, g.a.’s … the list just goes on and on. This church is where my spiritual foundation was laid.
But, things change, and I’ve changed, and that great big church hasn’t really met my needs or the needs of my husband for years. And what’s sad is, it was SO big, I don’t think anyone really noticed when I left.
So, we began to ‘church shop’ as many young couples do when they are starting their family. We would go from church to church trying to find our niche. This church would be too small, that church much too large, this churches music is too old fashion, that churches music is too loud. It got to a point where I think we began to look for ‘the perfect church’ and we were disappointed week after week. Well guys, I’m here to tell you, THERE IS NO PERFECT CHURCH! Church isn’t about the music, it isn’t about the activities, or even the charisma of the preacher, church is about JESUS CHRIST, plain and simple. I got so caught up in ‘finding the perfect church’ that I was missing a sweet church family that was right in front of me!
With butterflies in my stomach, a few weeks ago, I walked down front and joined a small Baptist Church that is a little off the beaten path. I know it was God that urged me to join, because this church is FAR from something I would expect myself to join. I NEVER thought I would go to a small church, I think I secretly found comfort in the large church.
The people in my new church miss me when I’m not there and there are so many opportunities for me to serve and grown, and it’s perfect place for Ebin to grow in the Lord. But it was a big step from a LARGE church with 20 + years of my membership to a tiny church with no years under my belt.
The first step is always the hardest, and every week that goes by I am so happy that I joined my new small church!

Moms treat our messy, crayon drawing like it belongs in an art museum giving it a place of honor on the fridge. Moms celebrate the first everything… first tooth, first steps, first love. Moms tell us we can be anything we want to be, and they actually believe it. Moms wake up for 3 AM feedings and later stay awake to make sure we don’t come home at 3 AM. Moms hold our hands through dark days and jump up and down on exciting ones. Moms give us a tangible reminder of the fruits of the spirit… love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. So Happy Mother’s Day to all you Mom’ out there!
“After the boy is weaned, I will take him and present him before the Lord and he will live there always.” – 1 Samuel 1:22
Ebin was dedicated at church during the morning service on Mother’s Day. The dedication is a ceremony where Jason and I promise to raise Ebin in a Christian home. I think it’s so special that my church had baby dedication on Mother’s Day! Very fitting!
Here are some pics from that day:

my mother made this outfit for my little brother in 1983, I thought it was very fitting for Ebin to wear it 26 years later

So the other morning I was ironing my FAV. Anne Taylor black work pants. I’ve had them for about 5 years or so and they have been iron, dry-cleaned, starched, and worn about a million times. While I was ironing them I realized that the booty was pretty worn and I thought to myself “well, this is the last time I will wear these pants.”
I put the pants on and go about my day. Lunch time comes around and I decide to go to my mom and dad’s to hang out with Ebin. I get there and get down on the floor with him and play with him for a little while. Then I walk into the kitchen to get something to eat. While I was walking thru the kitchen my mom says “Ker, did you sit on something white? There is something on your bottom.” And I felt my booty and I realized my pants had ripped!! OMG!
They didn’t actually split, they sorta just frayed, I guess because they are just so aged and worn. Luckily I wear a lab-coat at work all day, so I don’t think I flashed anyone, but there was a whole ripped right threw my pants!
So, I ran out of the house and up to Marshall’s and bought a super cute pair of black dress pants from Limited for $14.99! And got back to work with 2 minutes to spare.

I come from a long line of addicts; this was bound to happen at some point in my life. I’ve fought tooth and nail to stay away from this addiction, but it’s in my blood. I hit rock bottom the week after my Father-in-Law passed away and I just can’t get away from this drug of choice.
What drug is it you ask? Coffee.
I can not longer go a morning without it. I guess it doesn’t help that I have a 4 month old who still wakes up once a night. Something happened to me over the last few months and I am just SO tired, life really makes me tired lately and I just need help in the morning to get me going. I always liked the taste of coffee, but I never relied on it.
So, I get to join the millions of American’s that have this unhealthy addiction to coffee. I hope to phase it out as soon as Ebin is sleeping through the night.

So over this past weekend Jason and I found a car that we LOVED! It was a 2004 Acura TSX. It was everything we wanted in our next car. 1 owner, still under warranty, low miles, super clean and very pretty! We went ahead and took it home and said that when Monday came we would look for some good rates to finance it.
While I was at work on Monday, Jason was out ’shopping for loans.’ He kept calling me telling me the details of this bank’s loans, and that bank’s loans. He wasn’t really happy with any of the rates. Monday winded down and we figured we would continue on Tuesday.
So, again on Tuesday Jason begins to look for a loan. He tells me he’s gone from bank to bank and he just can’t get a decent loan. We decide we don’t want to pay 16-17% interest on a used car, it just doesn’t make sense. Sadly, we decide to take the car back. I didn’t realize how attached I had become to the car. I was sad to see it leave. In fact, I didn’t ride with Jason to take it back, him and his mom went.
Wednesday comes and I get home from work and Jason is continuing his search for ‘the perfect car.’ I am as uninterested as I can be. I told him I needed a little bit of a break from looking at cars.
In the next few days to come Jason continues looking at cars and I continue to find stupid reasons why I didn’t like that car. ‘It’s black, it will be hot’ or ‘it’s a 2.3 litre engine, I’m used to a 3.2′ or ‘the 6 disc cd changer gets on my nerves’. I was trying my best to let the car go.
This afternoon, Ebin and I are laying down for a nap. – *Sidenote* I love snuggling with him, it’s the best! And I surprised bc I never really understood what could be so great about snuggling with a baby, but it’s the best- Anyway, I am laying down and this is what happened:
Jason – comes home from work, bust in the bedroom
Jason -’Hey, you need to come outside and see what I did to my truck’
Me – ‘what?!? Your truck?!? Is everything ok?
Jason – ‘Well just come see!’
Me – ‘Did you get new tires? Did you wreck it?’
Jason – ‘Just come see for yourself’
Jason opens the door and this is what I saw :

AHHH!!! Are you kidding me?! He bought the car I thought we had to return! He totally fooled me!! I thought we weren’t getting this car! I was in TOTAL shock! It took about 10 minutes for it to sink in that I actually OWN this car!!! YIPPEEEEE!!!!
What a sweet, sweet husband! What a GREAT surprise!!

In clumps. It’s a little alarming. When I brush my hair it’s really concerning how much hair is in the brush when I’m done. All I can figure is it’s a.) Stress – as far as life goes, this is the most stressed out Jason and I have EVER been. We have NEVER faced anything quite as devastating as loosing his Father. Apparently that could be taking it’s tole on my hair b.) Hormones – It’s been almost 4 months since I had Ebin, but my body could still be equalizing I guess.
Whatever it is, it’s FREAKING me out and I wish it would stop.
Suggestions?

Happy New Year everyone!! I hope that 2009 is a great year for you and your family!! Please be safe tonight if you have plans DON’T DRINK AND DRIVE!! Only idiots do that.
As for me, I am ready for 2009! 2008 was a little rocky for me and I’m ready for a fresh start! I’ve never been one to make new year resolutions, but this year I think I might try. I’m only putting a few things on my ‘list’ .. start small right?
So here goes:
- Read my bible at least 3 times a week. I’m bad about Quiet Times and that is the first thing I need to get better at.
- Eat better. I love, I mean LOVE, junk food, and if I’m not careful it might start showing on my boo-tay, so that needs to stop.
- Exercise and loose 10 lbs and KEEP it off (I think #2 will help with #3)
- Be debt free. Bc of the rockiness of 2008, I’ve got a little bit of debt to pay down. I’ve NEVER had debt before, so it’s driving me crazy. I want to pay that down by the end of the year .. which is totally do-able.
What about you … do you make NY Resolutions? If so, what are they?
I’ve also decided to check back in at the end of each quarter so I can re-evaluate my progress .. stay tuned
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
Please take a moment today and in the following days to reflect on the things that you are grateful for. If you are like me, I’m sure that you can say, that even through hardships there are true blessings in each of our lives. We should not only use Thanksgiving Day to reflect on these blessings but every day.
… how’s that hymn go …
Count your blessings
Name them one by one
Count your blessings
See what God has done
Count your blessings
Name them one by one
Count your many blessings
See what God has done
Happy Gobble Gobble (you girls out there remember Gobble Gobble?!)

… it was a cloudy, raining day in Memphis. The rain was a little shocking because historically it rains very little in Memphis in October. Nevertheless, the rain came and a beautiful fall wedding was transformed from an outdoor wedding to an indoor wedding. This didn’t really phase the bride, as she had already had her fair share of RANDOM mishaps in the weeks leading up to her wedding .. like breaking her foot and having a blue cast at all her showers and a walking cast on during the wedding ceremony.
The wedding was beautiful! It was at a lovely home in East Memphis. There was yummy food, a pretty cake, and a chocolate fountain .. yummy!!
Four years ago today I married the best man I know. Happy Anniversary to us!!
Here is the verse that was recited during our vows:
Ruth 1:16-17
16. But Ruth replied, “Don’t urge me to leave you or to turn back from you. Where you go I will go, and where you stay I will stay. Your people will be my people and your God my God. 17. Where you die I will die, and there I will be buried. May the LORD deal with me, be it ever so severely, if anything but death separates you and me.”
Here are a few pictures from our wedding day:

So throughout my pregnancy people have given me advice. People I know and don’t know alike. Everyone is a ‘critic/know-it-all’. I’ve welcomed these opinions .. I really have, I don’t mind hearing difference circumstances, that’s cool, maybe I can learn something, right? But sometimes the advice/personal experience goes TOO far. Here is an example.
A patient’s father comes to the check-out counter where I take a co-pay and make a future appt. He sees I’m pregnant and asked how far along I am. I tell him and he proceeds to tell me that he is a registered EMT and father of 2 and has a bit of advice to give me. I will NOT go into all the detail that he did .. I’m SO not getting that graphic. But, basically he tells me that from 35 weeks on he helped ’stretch’ his wife by messaging her rectum (WHAT!!??) starting with 2 fingers, then 3 fingers, then 4 fingers, and so on. This helped ’stretch her so she didn’t tear with episiotomy’.
Keep in mind 1. I don’t know this dude, he’s a PERFECT stranger!! 2. He’s a patient 3. He’s a he
That was WRONG on so many levels, I don’t even know how to process the awkwardness I felt!!! I know he meant well and all, but GEEES.

Jason and I went out to eat this weekend. While we were eating I was making mental notes of everything going on right now, sorta keeping a check-list of everything so I know all my ‘ducks are in a row.’ As we are talking I tell him that I was looking back over a Drs bill and I noticed something interesting about the cost difference between a c-section and a regular birth.
Here’s how the conversation went with my extremely quick witted husband.
- Me: “So everything seems to be in order for the delivery. Do you know what the difference is between a c-section and a regular birth??”
- Jason: with the straightest face and without batting an eye spurts out – “LIPSTICK?” (for those of you in a cave, ‘lipstick’ is a reference to a joke that Sarah Palin has used at least 7 billion times about hockey moms … and my ‘7 billion’ in the above sentence is a reference to the bailout. It’s my attempt to be funny)
- Me / Jason at the same time – we laughed so HARD, I’m pretty sure everyone in the restaurant was staring at us!! I just don’t know that many people that are THAT quick witted!
funny to me

* This blog entry may not be suitable for child readers – not that I have any, but still *
My husband is a landscaper. He comes in contact with ALL sorts of people during his work week. Here is a story of one of the more interesting ‘prospective clientele.’
Let me paint the picture for you:
Jason is cutting a yard in a residential neighborhood, minding his own business. The across the street neighbors of his client have sold their house and new people have moved in. The new home owners are a little ’sketchy.’ Seems as if they may run some type of escort business. The owner of the home fits the typical escort profile … she always wears tight, barely-there clothing, her hair, make-up and fingernails are always overdone and over the top, and she has that ‘walk’ some women of the street have.
Here’s how the encounter went down:
- Jason – weed-eating with his head down
- Escort – taps him on the shoulder, ‘*smack* ummm, esk-scu me sir, can I speak wit chew?’
- Jason – ‘Yes ma’am’
- Escort – ‘*smack* ummm, yeaaaah, *smack* I was wondurin’ how much ya’d chaaarge to DO my yerd’
- Jason – Walks around the premisis like on any estimate then says “Well ma’am, for cutting, edging, and blowing it would be about $45′
- Escort – ‘*smack* ummm, yeah, whatcha thank the chaaarge woo be if I did the blow’in, I’m good at that part’
- Jason – my business minded and innocent husband scraches his head and says ’well that will really only knock off like 2 minutes of my time, so it won’t really make the price go down’
- Escort – blank look on her face as if to say, ’Ya dummy, I’m propositioning myself’
- Jason – stares back and then says ‘…..well ok, think about the price and then get back to me’ then completes the work at the other house
About 20 minutes go by and Jason is done with that yard so him and his co-worker hop in the truck and make their way to the next yard. He begins to tell his co-worker the story, and it suddenly hits him that he was just hit on or propositioned by a hooker/escort/what have you.
Needless to say, he steers clear of that house each week.
CRAZY
Even crazier is the shocking ‘burb this happened in … but I’ll leave that nameless.

My very most FAVORITE time of the year is fall. Some people don’t get this .. ‘that’s when everything is winding down and about to go dormant’ .. I seriously don’t know what it is, but I have ALWAYS loved fall. The crisp air, the beautiful colors in the trees, football season, and cold weather clothes. (My theory is that I love fall so much because my first fall I was about 6 months old and maybe I began to have my first memories then .. just a hypothesis of mine) ANYWAY, it’s my favorite time of year! My wedding was in the fall and now my baby will be born in the fall! YEAH!
Anyway, cooler temps mean it’s time to break in the ‘ole chimnea. Jason and I have spent many nights over the years in front of the fire just talking, enjoying a few drinks (obviously not this year bc I’m 9 months pregnant!) and just enjoying each other’s company. Well, with a low in the 50’s tonight, we decided it was time to get out there and enjoy the fire.
Here are some pics…

Those of you who know me, know I LOOOOVE to take pictures. It’s been an obsession of mine throughout the years. Although, over the last year I haven’t really taken a lot of pics, for various reasons. The main reason I haven’t been taking a lot of pics is because the digital camera that Jason got me 6 years ago just wasn’t cutting it anymore. It was SO out of date that I just got sick of using it (sorry Jace)
As a baby shower present my mom got me a new digital camera!! My baby shower isn’t until next week, but my mom got SO excited about giving me this camera she told me she got it for me about 6 weeks ago. She showed it to me, but she wouldn’t let me take it home because it was a ’shower present.’ Anyway, I’ve made a few comments over the last few weeks like ‘man I hope I don’t mess up any pics of Ebin when he gets here, since I can’t practice with my new camera’ .. I guess I wore her down, bc today at her birthday party SHE gave ME the camera! WAHOOO!!
Here’s the new camera

Here’s a few pics I took with it…

I work at a Doc’s Office. When people call to make an appointment, or resched. an appointment or do anything concerning their account I ask what their date of birth is to confirm I’ve got the right person
Here’s how a call today went:
- Patient: I’d like to resched an appt.
- Me: No problem, date of birth?
- Patient: 2nd month, 28th day, 59th year.
- Me: ……………………………………………Long pause as I’m thinking that is the strangest birthday I’ve ever heard … what month is second??!?! OHHH, ok, got it.
That threw me off in a MAJOR way!!!
Turns out the patient wasn’t even ours! GAH

I got my hair cut this weekend, about 3 inches off. It feels a lot healthier, a lot lighter, and just better overall. I figure I need to keep things simple as far as my look goes. With the baby getting here soon, I won’t have a lot of time to style long hair.
Here’s a pic.

So here’s the deal. I have always HATED John Mayer. I’m sorry if any of my readers are fans of his. But seriously ‘Body is a Wonderland’ put me over the cheesy-ness line about 8 years ago and I haven’t really liked much of his stuff since. That song is just, it’s just … well it’s WRONG!!
But something’s been happening over the last few years. He’s been wearing on me and I can’t beleive I’m admitting this but, I’m actually starting to like him. It’s crazy! I’m a little stunned that he has grown on me like he has. I still CRINGE when I hear ‘Body is a Wonderland’ and I switch the station as fast as I can. But, I’m beginning to think maybe the guys talented .. MAYBE.
Why the sudden change of hate for John Mayer? Well, it’s because of the below song. Read the lyrics. This song was on the soundtrack of ‘Bucket List’ which I’ve written about before.
___________________________________________
Say – John Mayer
Take all of your wasted honor
Every little past frustration
Take all of your so-called problems,
Better put ‘em in quotationsSay what you need to say [x8]
Walking like a one man army
Fighting with the shadows in your head
Living out the same old moment
Knowing you’d be better off instead,
If you could only …
Say what you need to say [x8]
Have no fear for giving in
Have no fear for giving over
You’d better know that in the end
Its better to say too much
Then never say what you need to say again
Even if your hands are shaking
And your faith is broken
Even as the eyes are closing
Do it with a heart wide open
Say what you need to say
______________________________________________
Something about that song is SO inspirational to me!! It’s so important in life to say what you need to say. Obviously, don’t hurt anyone’s feelings and be gentle with your words. But stand up for what you beleive in, get things off your chest, tell people close to you that you love and care for them

So I’ve been having these HORRIBLE Charlie Horses / Leg Cramps that wake me up in the middle of the night. They come out of NO-WHERE and they KILL for about 45secs – 2min, then they vanish.
I get to talking to my Mom and turns out she had the exact same thing while she was pregnant with me! She said she doesn’t really remember it happening when she was pregnant with my sister or my brother, but def. with me. We keep talking and we realize we both get them in our right leg. SPOOKY!

If you read below, you saw that I was very sick while we were in Florida on vacation. So I don’t have a WHOLE lot of stories to tell about the trip .. but here’s a cute story I read on my sister-in-law blog about Jason and I’s nephew CJ…
__________________________________
“OK, so CJ loves boobs. One morning we were all sitting out on the balcony looking at the ocean and visiting. Keren and her big pregnant boobs came outside and she picked up CJ. CJ immediately grabbed on to her boobs and said “booooooobie” and had the biggest smile on his face!! Two seconds later, Chad got on to him and told him not touch Ker-Ker’s boobies. CJ looked at him like he had absolutly lost his mind, giving him a look like “daddy, we are SUPPOSED to like this, what’s wrong with you??!” Then he baby cussed his Daddy, but we aren’t exactly sure what he said thru his paci. The look and cussing was priceless!! Anyway, then he turned and looked at my Aunt Donette, then my Mom, and then me and seemed a little disappointed. So CJ’s ALL boy!”

I took this picture while we were in Florida, then I read my sister-in-law’s blog and re-looked at my pics and realized that ANY time I was holding CJ he always had one hand firmly planted on my boob.

Jason and I got the chance to go to the beach last week with his family. We hadn’t been to the beach in over 2 years, and the beach has always been a special place for us! Jason proposed on the beach, so it always brings back sweet memories.
Fast forward and we arrive at the condo. The whole ride down I felt like I was coming down with something. But, since I’m preggers, I just thought the discomfort was one of the many random aches and pains that I’ve gotten used to. I tried to ignore it .. but sure enough, Monday night, I get a fever. Awesome. This continued all Monday night, and into Tuesday. Tuesday was our first full day to get on the beach, so I took it easy, stayed hydrated and cooled off every chance I had, and tried to soak up the sun.
As Tuesday progressed, it was clear to me that I was definitely sick. I went out for a ‘nice’ dinner with the girls, while the boys went golfing. I say ‘nice’ in quotations, bc for me it was HORRID. The food was good, I hear, the company was great as always, but I was so nauseous I couldn’t make it through the whole meal without throwing up. Luckily I only ordered the $7 soup, instead of a $20 entree.
The nausea/vomiting/fever/aches ect continued all thru the night Tuesday and into Wednesday. I stayed in bed all Wednesday and I was SOO very sad bc it was a beautiful beach day. Jason stayed by my side the entire time taking care of me! Wednesday I tried my hardest to go out and visit with friends and family, and just ended up near passing out 2 or 3 times, so that wasn’t a good idea, I should have stayed in the bed!!
Wednesday night my Doctor’s office told me to go to the ER bc I was very dehydrated and needed some fluids. The combo of fever, nausea, throwing up, not eating, not drinking and heat was taking it’s toll on me. But, for some reason I decided I could take care of this on my own and I would get better. It was just a virus, right??
Well, as a side note, each day I had these shooting pains in my stomach and back. I’ve had pains similar to this before so I just figure, again, I’m just uncomfortable from the baby. Well, I started getting worried bc the pains were coming about every 15 minutes … mmmm, sounds suspish. Anyway, again, dumb me, I decide I’m fine. I’d know if I was having contractions, right? I mean, it was a stabbing pain, but no water breaking or anything like that.
Fast forward and it’s 2 am Wednesday morning and I’m still in pain and miserable. Jason turns to me and says very stern voice says “If you aren’t better in the morning we are going to the ER!” Around 4 that morning my fever breaks and, thank the LORD, I’m able to keep some fluids down, and the stabbing pains in my back and stomach are moving farther apart and seem to be fading.
By the end of Wednesday I could eat solid food and I was regaining my strength, but I still felt like CRAP. Jason and I had a few days left and were hoping to get on the beach. BUT it rained the remainder of our trip!! Can you believe it??!
I ended up going to the doctor later, and I spoke to my obgyn about all my symptoms and she told me that the stabbing/shooting pains I was having were actually contractions. She went on to say if I had stayed dehydrated and with a fever for 2-3 more days I would have begun labor. Thankfully I didn’t, the fever and dehydration went away as did the contractions. GEES.
* MORAL * Don’t do the following:
- Go anywhere hot on vaca while in third trimester
- Get a virus
- Refuse to go to the Dr.

Six lifetime friends settle in for a nice evening of food and fellowship. Through no planning of their own, three of these six girls are pregnant. Not wanting to cook or really clean up too much for dinner, pizza was decided as the main course. A few girls got to the host home a few minutes early. Not everyone was there yet, so they decided to put the pizza’s in the oven on warm, to make sure they stayed hot for dinner.
Forgetting about the pizza’s, the girls begin to hang out in the living room and wait for the other’s to arrive. Suddenly one of the pregnant girls smells an oder that smells alot like smoke. She ask her other pregnant friend “do you smell smoke?” The both pop up off the couch and see smoke POURING out of a vent on top of the stove. One says to the other “maybe the stove is just broken!” .. the other says “No, I think the pizza’s are on fire!!”
Frightened, the two quickly open up the stove and sure enough the top of one of the pizza boxes is ablaze. Fire begins to pour out from the top of the stove! WHAT DO THEY DO??! The owner of the home and third pregnant woman runs into the kitchen. Staying calm they brain storm, how do three pregnant women fight this fire?!? One says “baking soda is always good for kitchen fires” .. the other grabs her phone to dail 911, as the owner of the home clearly remember “the people we bought this home from 2 months ago left a fire extinguisher!!” The fire continues to blaze, the smoke is getting thicker by the second. The fourth friend wisk the 1.7 year old out of the house bc of the fumes.
Panick begins to insue. As all three pregnant women stare frantically at the extinguisher. “How do we work this thing?!??!” None of them know!! The owner of the home reads the instructions and they all squat down and look at the fire as she begins to spray. The most sensible of the pregnant women says to them all “ya’ll, I don’t think we should be in here, the fumes are horrible!!!” She runs out of the house. The other two pregnant women stay in the house watching the extinguisher spray into the stove. Between the fire fumes and the extinguisher the girls loose each other in clouds of dust. Certain the fire is out, they run out of the house.
After a few minutes, the fumes die down, and the un-pregnant friend goes into the home to access the damage. The fire is out for sure. They all go in the home to survey the damage. Remarkabley the stove is in fine working order. All that is left is about 2 inches of dust and debri over all the kitchen surfaces.
Don’t ever underestimate a pregnant woman!

- Me: As Jason and I were watching tv I jumped up about 2 feet off the couch bc the baby kicked the crap out of me in my ribs (it H-U-R-T!!)
- Jason:”What’s wrong??”
- Me:”UGH, He kicked me!!!”
- Jason:”WHO kicked you?!?” <- in a protective “I’ll kick their butt” tone
- Me:”The baby, duh!!!”
- Jason:”Ohhhhh”
I don’t know why that was so funny to me .. but it was. Jason was being protective of a boy kicking me with a foot that’s about 1.5 inches long (if that)

This is one of my ALL time favorite verses:
____________________________________________
Ruth 1:16-17
16. But Ruth replied, “Don’t urge me to leave you or to turn back from you. Where you go I will go, and where you stay I will stay. Your people will be my people and your God my God. 17. Where you die I will die, and there I will be buried. May the LORD deal with me, be it ever so severely, if anything but death separates you and me.”
____________________________________________
This bible verse was recited at Jason and I’s wedding. Jason’s cousin Nicole read it, and it was beautiful! I, like many brides, took this verse out of it’s context when I chose it to be read at our wedding. BUT the concept of the verse, I felt, was very appropriate for my wedding.
It was almost 4 years ago that this verse was read. I didn’t know 4 years ago what trails we would face in our marraige, and I still don’t know what’s to come in the future. But, there is one thing that is certain … marraige – flawed by us inperfect humans – is forever. No matter what problems you may face, I’m beginning to see that marraige is sometimes a tool that God uses to bring you closer to Him (recent advise from a good friend)
So if you are struggling in your marraige, or just in a rut, please have hope that God can heal ANYTHING. There is no problem or obstacle to hard for Him to tackle.

I wrote a report in 1997 in middle school about this animal:

It’s called an Aye-Aye.
I just think it’s weird the things that you remember from your childhood.

This is my 100th blog post. Yeah me. I’ve had this blog since Feb. 08 and I’ve really enjoyed blogging.
Here are some of the positives of blogging:
- Seeing your everyday life in stories … I find myself looking for funny sayings, signs, devotionals, or weird news stories just so I can blog about them.
- Having a place where you can get your thoughts out. It’s been a great way for me to process my thoughts, feelings, joys, fears, laughs, ect ect about my day-to-day life.
- It’s a way to connect with people I may have never connected with before. I’ve been able to communicate with people that I grew up with that I haven’t talked to in years. I’ve also had the chance to see into the lives of people I may never meet but that go through struggles just like me.
There are also some negatives to blogging like:
- People misunderstanding what a post is about. Things can get lost in translation when you type it out. There have been several post where I really put my thoughts out there and it came back and bite me a little.
BUT, that is a small price to pay. All in all I <3 blogging .. here’s to another 100 post.
IF you read my blog on a regular basis and you don’t have a blog of your own .. SHAME on you! Get out there, get one started, and send me the link!

I have the BEST time with my friends! I’ve got two groups of sweet girl friends. My Bunko/GNO girls and my Supper Club girls!
Here’s a pic of me and the Bunko/GNO girls:

Amy, Kim, Me, Misty, Wendy, Shannon
We had a great time at GNO! We ate yummy food at Misty’s house, and talked while the kids ran around and played in the back yard.

And here’s a pic of my Supper Club girls! Half of us are pregnant right now, so the girls thought it would be funny to take a “pregnant” picture. Can you guess who really has a bun in the oven??

So last night I learned how to swing a golf club and hit the golf ball. Ya know, on tv, they make this look SO easy! The pro’s have this fluidity, their bodies moved like one well oiled machine .. it looks flawless. My swing .. NOT SO MUCH!!
Before Jason ever let me swing the club he positioned my head, arms, legs, wrist, torso, feet and knees in the correct form. There was A LOT to learn. After a few minutes of lecturing about form, I finally got to swing the club.
- Swing 1 – TOTALLY missed the ball, didn’t get anywhere near hitting it with the club, form was awful .. sort of like a wet noodle.
- Swing 2 – Still missed the ball, but my form was a little better
- Swing 3 – CONTACT! YEAH!! I hit the ball!! OOOO-HOOO! It only went 10 feet, but AWESOME
This pattern continued the rest of the night. As it got darker and cooler my swing got better. Jason would hand me different clubs so that I could get a feel for each one. I never really saw much of a difference from one club to another. None of the clubs made the ball go any further. The furthest I hit the ball was about 120 yards .. and that hitting the ball to like 90 yards and it bouncing and rolling around till it settled at 120.
ANYWAY, I’m actually shocked to say I had fun! It was frustrating at times .. bc of my lack of hand-eye coordination, and how awkward it felt to swing a club, but all in all it was a good time.

(that’s not me by the way!)
I’ve always thought that golf was THE most boring sport around .. sorry Tiger .. but seriously golf is best watched on a Sunday afternoon, played in the background to lull you to sleep. My husband plays golf ALL the time, and I just DON’T get it.
Over the past few weeks I’ve gone with him a few times, I wrecklessly, safetly drive the golf cart to each tee and watch him in action. Apparently he is pretty good … shoots around or under 80 each time … this means nothing to me, but thought I’d give props to Jason. Anyway, so I’ve been going with him and it’s struck a little bit of curiousity in me. I’m actually starting to think it MIGHT be fun.
So, tonight I am going for my very first golf lesson at the driving range with Golf-Pro Jason Miller. Keep in mind I have NO hand-eye coordination .. NONE people, not even a LITTLE bit. That’s why I stuck to sports like track and cross country in high school. But, who knows, maybe it will be fun!!

Jason and I went to a Comedy Club this weekend and caught a show. The show started at 8:15, it had a ‘warm-up’ comedian and a ‘headliner’. The show lasted for about 2 hours and it was ABSOLUTELY HILAROUS!!! If you like this sort of thing I recommend going to a comedy club in your area! It’s rated PG13-R, so at times there is some cussing. Anyway, it was a NICE change to the dinner/movie combo.

There is a great good in bearing sorrow patiently: I don’t know that there is any virtue in sorrow just as such. It is a Christian duty, as you know, for everyone to be as happy as he can.
- C.S. Lewis.
_____________________________________________
I read the above quote on my former Pastor’s blog. The best pastor ever Sam Shaw – link over there to the right.
In the recent months God has been teaching me patience. This is a seemingly IMPOSSIBLE task. I think God’s been trying to teach me patience since I was in the womb, seriously! When my parents describe me as a child, along with being their favorite and an ABSOLUTE joy (JK, JK, JK), they DEFINITELY describe me as ‘hard headed’ and ‘impatient’.
It’s a struggle for me, FOR SURE!! This impatience has gotten me in a lot of trouble, especially in the recent months. It’s obvious that God is trying to teach me a lesson, and if I would just listen and be patient in Him the lesson could be taught at a pretty quick pace .. BUT bc I’m impatient I mess up His lesson and have heart-aches along the way. Isn’t is so great though, that God NEVER runs out of patience for His children? He will just keep thinking up ways to love us and teach us lessons!
So, the above quote taught me today to be patient even in the bad times, W-A-I-T on God, lean on Him, and He will see any circumstance through.

Our house has been on the market for the last six months. Although we have had a lot of showings and a good amount of traffic we haven’t had one offer. Obviously God wants us to stay put and I am thankful for that guidance from Him!!

Jason and I have a 8.5 year old Jack Russell Terrior. She’s the most opinionated, human-esk dog you will ever meet. It’s scary sometimes the qualities she has that are human-like. She’s precious and we love her!
The thing about Roxie is, she THINKS she’s a human. She has NEVER liked other dogs, hates them actually. About five years ago before Jason and I got married I got a dog to “go” with her and I named her Jersey. She’s a Jack Russell mix too, so I thought it would be cute. I was WRONG. She HATED that dog!! They got in a HUGE fight where Jason had to tear them apart and he came out bloody!! Shortly thereafter we got married and I had to give Jersey to my parents, where she is VERY happy.
Needless to say, Roxie hates other dogs, hates them …. we’ve always wanted another dog, but she won’t have it.
So fast forward and we are living in a new house we built a year ago. Our next door neighbors moved in within days of us and their dog had just passed away, so they just got a new puppy. It’s a poodle mix so it’s a pretty small pup. While we were building the house we lived with Jason’s parents. They have all kinds of trees, so there were always plenty of squirrels for her to chase. So, she got used to chasing ground varmits. Then we move into our house and our neighbors move in the same day. That night, Roxie sees this little animal on the ground, assumes its a squirrel, and she chases our brand new neighbors brand new puppy into their house, around their kitchen, threw their den, and back out the door. SO, needless to say Oscar (the neighbors dog) and Roxie did not start off on the right paw.
Each and every time Roxie goes outside to use the bathroom IF Oscar is out there too she goes into defensive mode .. barking like crazy, hair standing up, the whole nine yards .. UNTIL last week. It was eerily quiet, I didn’t hear Roxie make a sound, I look outside and realize her and Oscar are playing and having a big ole time. It’s CRAZY.
So, maybe we are a step closer to getting another dog!

I like these quizzes because you can get to know me a little better without me talking about myself all the time!
10 years ago:
I was 16. When I was 16 I:
1. Attended a public school after 10 years in private schools 2. Joined the track team 3. Learned to drive a 1988 White, Ford, Station Wagon with – no a/c, no heat, no cd player, no door handles on the inside (they were plastic and broke off, so you had to unroll the window and reach around and open the door that way – dispite all that I was very happy to drive to school and on the weekends to my friends house.) 4.Went on my first date with a boy named Billy that was on the track team with me (he took me to ‘The Butcher Shop’ and then to see ‘The Big Lebowski’. 5. Loved going to youth group at church and hanging out with the D-Group girls (who 10 years later became the Supper Club girls)
Things on my to-do list today:
1. learn to like to cook 2. learn to do one load of laundry a day so the ‘moutain’ turns into a ‘pile’ 3. go to sleep earlier .. wait these sounds more like resolutions …
What would I do if I was suddenly became a Billionaire?
Pay off my house, pay off Jason and I’s debt, then pay all me and Jason’s (the immediate 20 or so) family’s house debt, and other outstanding debt off, buy a house on the beach and in the mountains, quit my job, travel all over the world, buy a cool car, buy lots of diamond jewelry and just relax.
Three of my bad habits:
1. speeding 2. not calling people back 3. cussing in my head
Five jobs I have had:
1. Office Manager 2. Ophthalmic Assistant 3. Food Demonstrator 4. Cashier 5. Cashier
