Happy New Year!

Posted by kerenmelissa on December 31, 2008

Happy New Year everyone!! I hope that 2009 is a great year for you and your family!! Please be safe tonight if you have plans DON’T DRINK AND DRIVE!! Only idiots do that.

As for me, I am ready for 2009!  2008 was a little rocky for me and I’m ready for a fresh start!  I’ve never been one to make new year resolutions, but this year I think I might try.  I’m only putting a few things on my ‘list’ .. start small right?

So here goes:

  1. Read my bible at least 3 times a week.  I’m bad about Quiet Times and that is the first thing I need to get better at.
  2. Eat better.  I love, I mean LOVE, junk food, and if I’m not careful it might start showing on my boo-tay, so that needs to stop.
  3. Exercise and loose 10 lbs and KEEP it off (I think #2 will help with #3)
  4. Be debt free.  Bc of the rockiness of 2008, I’ve got a little bit of debt to pay down.  I’ve NEVER had debt before, so it’s driving me crazy.  I want to pay that down by the end of the year .. which is totally do-able.

What about you … do you make NY Resolutions?  If so, what are they?

I’ve also decided to check back in at the end of each quarter so I can re-evaluate my progress .. stay tuned :)

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

From our family to yours, MERRY CHRISTMAS!!

Dont’ let the hustle and bustle of this time of year take away from the TRUE meaning of Christmas.  It’s not about Santa Clause, Reindeer, or presents! It’s the celebration of Jesus’ birth and all the miracles surrounding that miraculous event!    Please don’t forget that!

Isaiah 9:6-7

For to us a child is born, to us a son is given,
and the government will be on his shoulders.
And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!

How quickly time passes…

Posted by kerenmelissa on December 17, 2008

One of my friends emailed me this little poem.  I thought it was a pretty neat way to remind people, especially moms, to cherish the time we have with our children, because before too long they will be all grown up!

_____________________________________________

Twas the night before Christmas, when all thru the abode Only one creature was stirring, & she was cleaning the commode.

The children were finally sleeping, all snug in their beds, while visions of Playstations & Barbie, flipped through their heads.

The dad was snoring in front of the TV, with a half-constructed bicycle propped on his knee.

So only the mom heard the reindeer hooves clatter, which made her igh, “Now what is the matter?”

With toilet bowl brush still clutched in her hand, She descended the tairs, & saw the old man.

He was covered with ashes & soot, which fell with a shrug, “Oh great,” uttered the mom, “Now I have to clean the rug.”

“Ho Ho Ho!” cried Santa, “I’m glad you’re awake”…your gift was especially difficult to make.”

“Thanks, Santa, but all I want is time alone.”
“Exactly!” he chuckled, “So, I’ve made you a clone.”

”A clone?” she muttered, “What good is that?”
”Run along, Santa, I’ve no time for chit chat.”

Then out walked the clone – The mother’s twin, Same hair, same eyes,  same double chin.

“She’ll cook, she’ll dust, she’ll mop every mess.
You’ll relax, take it easy, watch The Young & The Restless.”

“Fantastic!” the mom cheered. “My dream has come true!”
“I’ll shop, I’ll read, I’ll sleep a night through!”

From the room above, the youngest did fret.
“Mommy?! Come quickly, I’m scared & I’m wet.”

The clone replied, “I’m coming, sweetheart.”
“Hey,” the mom smiled, “She sure knows her part.”

The clone changed the small one & hummed her tune, as she bundled the child in a blanket cocoon.

“You’re the best mommy ever. I really love you.”
The clone smiled & sighed, “And I love you, too.”

The mom frowned & said, “Sorry, Santa, no deal.”
That’s my child’s LOVE she is trying to steal.”

Smiling wisely Santa said, “To me it is clear, Only one loving mother is needed here.”

The mom kissed her child & tucked her in bed.
“Thank You, Santa, for clearing my head.

I sometimes forget it won’t be very long, when they’ll be too old for
my cradle & song.”

The clock on the mantle began to chime.
Santa whispered to the clone, “It works every time.”

With the clone by his side Santa said “Goodnight.
Merry Christmas, dear Mom, You will be all right.”

80%, not too shabby

Posted by kerenmelissa on December 16, 2008

I am pleased to announce that I have a healthy little boy.  His two month check up was this week and he is in the 80% in height and weight.

People have been telling me he’s big for 2 months, but I don’t know any better!!

He is now 24 inches long – up from 20 at birth, and 12.7 pounds – up from 7.3 at birth.

He’s a big ole boy!  LOOK how cute!

This is him being weighed.  He’s discovered his fist and prefers them 2:1 over his paci.

An answer to an undying question…

Posted by kerenmelissa on December 14, 2008

What does R.S.V.P. mean? Does anyone really know??

Well, now I know:

Respond If You Please.  R.S.V.P. stands for a French phrase, “répondez, s’il vous plaît,” which means “please reply.”

In all my 26, almost 27 years, I never knew that.

Milestones

Posted by kerenmelissa on December 11, 2008

This week has been full of milestones for us:

  1. I went back to work.  It was a tearful day but we all got thru it.
  2. Ebin slept from 9:30 pm – 6:30 am.  I woke up panicked at 5:00 am thinking he had stopped breathing.   I just couldn’t believe how long he slept!!
  3. Ebin rolled over from his stomach to his back and I didn’t miss i (hence the tears on #2 – I was afraid I’d miss everything being at work)

Big week (well actually that all happened in one day, but still)

I made my child bleed

Posted by kerenmelissa on December 10, 2008

While trimming his fingernails after bathtime the other night I clipped just a little too far and .. well you know the rest.  He screamed and cried in pain.  It was horrible.  But, what I think was worse was how bad Jason made me feel!  Of course he came rushing in Ebin’s room after hearing the blood curdling screams and he laid a HUGE guilt trip on me!

Poor kid, he doesn’t know he was cursedblessed with a highly accident proned mother.

P.S. – Ebs is fine now and Jason’s been assigned the duty of fingernail clipping from now on :)

Joke of the Day

Posted by kerenmelissa on December 2, 2008

Someone saw a blonde eating a Tootsie Roll Pop and asked her, “So, how many licks does it take to get to the center of a Tootsie Roll – Tootsie Pop?”

Without a thought, the blonde replied, “Beats me, but it took almost the whole day just to lick through the wrapper.”

Month 1

Posted by kerenmelissa on December 1, 2008

I’m totally stealing this idea from another blog that I follow -> www.dooce.com

______________________________________________________________________

What a whirlwind month!  I started out this month as 1 person.  Sure you were attached to me, but you required no care at all.  Now that you are here I am consumed with everything you need and how I can best take care of you.  The first 2 weeks of your life are a total blur to me.  Recovery from the c-section was hard but we had a lot of help!  You had more visitors that I can count!  People brought us yummy meals and helped clean our house.  You were up every 2 hours on the dot so that you could eat, and then you went right back to bed.  Week 3 was the hardest for mommy.  Sleep deprivation began to set in and the days and nights were hard.  Your colic began this week.  Your Daddy kept telling me that you had colic, but I didn’t want to believe that!  But, by week 4 I knew that you were hurting most of the time.  We all soothed you the best we could, but you cried a lot!  You had your first ‘real’ bath in your bathroom and you really loved the warm water.  You started sleeping about 3 hours at a time by the end of your fourth week and we decided to move you to your bedroom.  There are small glimpes of a personality, I’m ready to see what next month has in store.

This picture was taken by Erin.  She showed me this picture while they were sewing me up so that I could see what you looked like.  I couldn’t believe how beautiful you were.

This picture was taken 11-15-2008, you were 1 month old.
