Funny story

Posted by kerenmelissa on October 29, 2008

3 am, in the bedroom, me and Jason in our bed, Ebin in his bassinet.

  • Ebin – deep breaths, in and out, in and out, in and out
  • Keren – hears his every move Ebin makes, even while I’m asleep and is used to his heavy breathing
  • Ebin – deep breaths, in and out, in and out, in and out
  • Jason – sits straight up in the bed, very startled, very alarmed
  • Keren – what is it?
  • Jason – I’m trying to figure out what that noise is!!
  • Keren – Prob. just a car
  • Ebin – deep breaths, in and out, in and out, in and out
  • Jason – no, it wasn’t a car, THAT noise
  • Keren – that’s the baby breathing
  • Jason – oooooh

Here’s a pic of the baby sleeping .. he HAS to have his arms out of the covers, which I think is HILARIOUS

look at his hair .. it sticks straight up .. precious!

A quick update

Posted by kerenmelissa on October 26, 2008

So, I don’t have a lot of time lately to post .. but here’s a quick update:

We came home from the hospital:

Gave Ebin his first bath.

Took Ebin to his first Dr. Appt and gave him his first bottle:

Ebin got his first fever which was really scary.

We’ve had a TON of visitors/well-wishers/supper-bringers over the last couple weeks!  Thank you to EVERYONE for all the support/help/dinners/calls/text ect ect ect in the days leading up to the birth and last couple weeks after.  Everyone has helped make our transition into parenthood a lot smoother!!  THANK YOU sooo very much!!!

I’ll post more later!

4 years ago today…

Posted by kerenmelissa on October 9, 2008

… it was a cloudy, raining day in Memphis.  The rain was a little shocking because historically it rains very little in Memphis in October.  Nevertheless, the rain came and a beautiful fall wedding was transformed from an outdoor wedding to an indoor wedding.  This didn’t really phase the bride, as she had already had her fair share of RANDOM mishaps in the weeks leading up to her wedding .. like breaking her foot and having a blue cast at all her showers and a walking cast on during the wedding ceremony.

The wedding was beautiful!  It was at a lovely home in East Memphis.  There was yummy food, a pretty cake, and a chocolate fountain .. yummy!! :)

Four years ago today I married the best man I know.  Happy Anniversary to us!! :)

Here is the verse that was recited during our vows:

Ruth 1:16-17

16. But Ruth replied, “Don’t urge me to leave you or to turn back from you. Where you go I will go, and where you stay I will stay. Your people will be my people and your God my God. 17. Where you die I will die, and there I will be buried. May the LORD deal with me, be it ever so severely, if anything but death separates you and me.”

Here are a few pictures from our wedding day:

When the flood comes

Posted by kerenmelissa on October 7, 2008

There are times in each of our lives when it seems like we are just drowning!  There seems to be no hope for our messed up situation, no remedy and no comfort.  It’s hard when it seems like everything is crashing around you.  My personal trials have taught me that when I feel that hopelessness I’ve GOT to lean on Jesus.  Afterall, He’s the only one that can guide us through life.  Sure we have spouses, family, and friends but Jesus is supposed to be where we get out strength from.

I just heard the lyrics to this song and was really blessed by it.  I hope you can get something out of it too!

___________________________________________________

Washed By The Water by Need to Breath :

Even when the rain falls
Even when the flood starts rising
Even when the storm comes
I am washed by the water
Even when the rain falls
Even when the flood starts rising
Even when the storm comes (sometimes a hurricane or tsunami)
I am washed by the water (I am His)

Even if the Earth crumbles under my feet
Even if the ones I love turn around and crucify me
I won’t never ever let you down
I won’t fall
I won’t fall
I won’t fall as long as you’re around me

_________________________________________

If you feel like you are in a flood and an ‘umbrella’ just won’t do anymore, LEAN ON HIM.  He’s the only one that knows your heart and the pain you are feeling.  Give it over to Him :)

I COULD NOT resist

Posted by kerenmelissa on October 6, 2008

Ok, so I haven’t personally bought a lot of outfits for this baby.  I’ve been given such GREAT hand-me-downs or brand new items that I just really don’t need anything.  So, what I’m about to show is you is TOTALLY a ‘want’ not at ALL a ‘need’ but I just HAD to buy it!

I was given a SUPER cute Halloween outfit, a pumpkin, by my friend Wendy.  It was her baby boy’s and it’s totally cute.  However, my husband said it was too ‘typical’ (sorry Wendy, I thought it was super cute) So his comment put the idea in my head that maybe I should get another costume.  Afterall, it is his first Halloween.

So … this is what I bought at Target:

It’s a MONKEY!!  Are you dying?!  I LOVE IT!!  It’s tiny, just perfect for a little guy like him.

Thanks, Lou Dobbs

So I will start this off by saying I am TOTALLY sitting the fence about this election.  I’m sorry for all you die-hard Obama-er’s or McCain-er’s .. I’m just not that into either one of the candidates.  I honestly think if we took the ‘good’ ideals from each candidate and squooshed them into one person we would have a pretty decent President.  But, the way the guys are right now, I’m just not impressed.

With all that being said, I am getting a little annoyed by ANY negative or positive bias that the media may have on any of the 4 candidates.   It bother’s me how they pick apart e-v-e-r-y little thing.  It seems like lately the topic of their picking has been focused directly on Sarah Palin.  Whether it be because of her ‘hockey mom’ persona, her getting just a LITTLE flustered when Katie Couric tries to pick apart her brain with a pick ax, or her just being demeaned by the media for no other reason but because she’s ‘new’ and she’s a woman.  I’m really getting SICK of all her ’so called ‘flaws. ’ It’s annoying.

So, the other night, I was cooking dinner and watching CNN, it’s a new obsession of mine.  I was watching Lou Dobbs and he ranted for about 10 minutes about how RIDIC it is that Palin has gotten SO much negative press.  My ears pirked up bc I really hadn’t given it a lot of thought .. afterall the media over emphasizes everything.  But I began to listen to what he had to say.  The media has layed into her several times when she makes a fact blunder.  But they never seem to catch the mistakes Joe Biden makes.  What’s that all about?  I think he said that there is like a 5:1 ratio of how much they pick on her versus him.  I just think that’s WRONG.  She is a new comer, and she may be ‘less qualified’ (although I find it interesting that she has more executive experience running Alaska then any of the other 3 candidates combined)  but seriously… GET OFF HER BACK!  She’s trying to help turn around a party that’s been down the toilet for about 4 years.  That’s not an easy position to be in.

On the flip side, please know that I get as equally offended when people mis-quote or mis-represent Barack Obama.   I can’t stand it when people say ‘he’s muslim, his middle name is Hussein, he’s the anti-christ’ .. seriously people, how ignorant can you be?

This election is about the issues and figuring out who can help get our country out of some of our messes.  It’s not about Hockey Mom’s, funny sounding names, age, or over experience.  Let’s focus on the issues and TRY to pick the right candidate.
