I’ve stated in past blogs that there is a lot going on in my personal life right now. This quote/verse has helped calm me in the past few days.
“When our (plans) are interrupted, His are not. His plans are proceeding exactly as scheduled, moving us always (including those minutes or hours or years which seem most useless or wasted or unendurable) “toward the goal of true maturity” (Rom 12:2 JBP).” -Elisabeth Elliot
This quote brings me such comfort. I draw such a peace knowing that no matter what obstacles come by way, God has a plan for them and it’s all under His control.

A little old man was escorted into the witness box. He was sworn in and asked by the lawyer to explain what happened.
After a lengthy discussion of the events leading up to the incident he finally got around to the meat of the case, “…and then she hit me with a maple leaf.”
“A maple leaf? Surely that couldn’t have caused you any serious injury” said the lawyer.
“Are you kidding?” exclaimed the old man. “It was the leaf from the center of our dining room table.”

Dangerous Parrot
A woman’s dishwasher had stopped working, so she called a repairman. He couldn’t accommodate her with an evening appointment, and since she had to go to work the next day, she told him “I’ll leave the key under the mat. Fix the dishwasher, leave the bill on the counter, and I’ll mail you the check. By the way, dont worry about my Rottweiler. He wont bother you. But, whatever you do, do not under any circumstances talk to my parrot!”When the repairman arrived at her apartment the next day, he discovered the biggest and meanest looking Rottweiler he had ever seen. Like she had said, the dog just lay there on the carpet, watching the repairman go about his business. However, the whole time he was there, the parrot drove him nuts with its incessant squawking and talking.
Finally the repairman couldn’t stand the parrot’s talking any longer and he told the bird to be quiet.
The parrot replied, “Get him, Brutus!”

So I’ve been letting my hair grow out for some time now. It had gotten a little past my bra-line, about halfway down my back. But it was SERIOUSLY getting on my LAST nerve! My hair is wavy, so I flat iron it every day to get the waves out. Doing this every day has fried my hair!! Along with dying it every color from blonde to auburn.
So, this weekend, I took the big plung! I got 6 inches cut off my hair! I swear I feel like I’ve lost weight, it’s great!! It’s right to my shoulders, so I can still put my hair in a pony. It a cute angled cut .. shorter in the back and longer in the front. I’m pretty excited about it!!
I’ll post pics soon!

My best friend Erin said I have to do this.
5 Things You Might Not Know About Me:
1. I still wear my retainer. I wear it every night. I’m crazy about it. I don’t ever want my teeth to go back to crooked.
2. I hate fleece. Get that stuff away from me. NOTHING gives me creepy-crawlies like fleece.
3. I am TERRIBLY, HORRIFICALLY, PARALYZINGLY afraid of the dark. This childhood fear has never left me. I still run to the bed at night and jump in it quickly if the lights are off. I must sleep with all doors/closets closed and shut tightly. I walk side-ways up stairs at night so I can keep an eye on the situation. There’s NO WAY I’m turning the dog out after dark, sorry Roxie.
4. I L-O-V-E tornado’s. Not the destruction and harm they can cause, obviously. Just the magnitude and force. One of these days I will go out to Kansas/Oklahoma and take one of those ’storm chaser’ tours so I can see one first hand and out of harms way.
5. I miss driving a manual transmission. I had a stick for about 5 years. Then I got a super nice car with automatic transmission. I LOVE the car, love it, don’t get me wrong!! But, every so ofter I miss the control of shifting.

I read this quote on one of my sister’s friend’s blog. He recently lost his wife in a car crash. Both of them are missionaries in Africa and have 2 young children who survived the crash unharmed. This prayer was found after she died in her journal:
”O Sovereign Lord, Let those that are united to me in tender ties be precious in thy sight and devoted to thy glory. Sanctify and prosper my domestic devotion, instruction, discipline, and example, that my house may be a nursery for heaven.”
Quoted from The Valley of Vision

I am going through a lot of trials in my personal life. I heard this quote last night and I loved it!!
”Beginnings are scary, endings are usually sad, it’s the middle that counts the most. Remember that when you find yourself at a scary beginning. Just give hope a change to float up, and it will.”
