This past weekend I saw ‘The Bucket List’ with my husband. It’s a movie about 2 older fellow’s who both have cancer and have been given only a few months to live. They decide to make a list of all the things they want to do before they die. Then, they do each thing one by one, and cross it off their list. It’s a pretty good movie! Definitely a tear jerker!
One of the things on the list was “witness something majestic.” Now, I won’t talk any more about the movie because I don’t want to give it away. But, I am using that movie to transition into this post.
One of the most majestic things that I have ever witnessed in my life are mountains. Specifically the Rockies, Canadian Rockies, and the Himalayas. I’ve learned that in life there are either ‘mountain people’ or ‘beach people’. I have always sat the fence on this argument. I LOVE sun bathing and listening to the waves on the beach, but the beach has never ‘called’ to me like the mountains do. So, today I’m declaring that I’m a mountain person.
My best friend Erin would say that I can be both a mountain and a beach person if I would move to California, she is right. But even so, I am still a mountain person. There is just something so amazing to me about seeing a HUGE mountain range. It’s absolutely breath-taking!!
So here is a picture I found. It’s a picture of some mountains in Utah. I found it on another blog at www.dooce.com
So although I am thousands of miles away from ‘witnessing something majestic’ this picture will serve the purpose until I can go back out west.

So I am in UTTER and COMPLETE shock!! I posted a few days ago about how my purse was stolen. Of course I have NO hope in ever having any of my items returned. I’d made my peace with it, and moved on.
THEN, yesterday I get a call from my Bank. Turns out a Police Officer from a city about 3 hours away from where I live has arrested a couple that had possession of my stuff – my drivers license, ssn card, checkbooks, and c/c’s.
The couple rented a van and was seen on the highway driving erratically. The officer pulled them over and saw a large screen plasma tv in the back of the van. He thought it was odd that they were dressed like they were so he asked them for their ID. They didn’t have any form of ID. So, since there was no ID he was able to search them. They had crack-cocaine on them and were immediately arrested. Once they were arrested the van was searched and my stuff as well as 4 other women’s things were found in the van.
Later, while being questioned, they told the Investigator that they bought the ID’s from a crack dealer for $150, and they didn’t actually take the ID’s from anyone.
Anyway, I will be going to that city in the near future to testify.
I just can’t believe it!! It’s a miracle!!!

Along with personal thoughts about my day-to-day life, I would also like to post the upsurd things that happen in our world.

She said she warmed a bottle in the microwave oven, tried to give it to the baby, changed the child’s diaper and then fell asleep on the couch with the baby on her chest.
Arnold said she and her children were the only ones in the apartment until her boyfriend arrived several hours later and noticed something was wrong with the baby.
Galbraith said Arnold told him: “If I hadn’t gotten so drunk, I guess my baby wouldn’t have died.”
When cross-examined by Rion, Galbraith acknowledged that Arnold told him she did not know how the baby suffered the burns and that she had nothing to do with it that she could recall.
Earlier this month, defense witness Robert Belloto, a staff pharmacist at Good Samaritan Hospital, testified he does not believe it would have been possible for Arnold to place the baby in the microwave because the woman was so intoxicated.
Belloto said Arnold told him she had consumed about 40 percent of a pint of high-proof rum in 90 minutes. But he acknowledged that he had no other corroboration for her claim.

I have medium length hair at the moment, about halfway down my back. Like most women, I’ve done all sorts of things to my hair. Cut it all off, grown it all back. Dye it blonde, brown, honey, chestnut, black, red (that was a horrible mistake!! it turned out coca-cola red. UGH) Anyway, I’m no stranger to hair experimentation. I’ve never been afraid to change my hair .. it will always grow back.
So, around Thanksgiving I realize I’m a little bored with the face framing layers and medium length cut that I have. However, I still want to to keep the length, I’d like to do something edgy-er, something hip. I get inspiration from one of my style icons - my dear friend Deanna. Deanna is always on the cutting edge of fashion, but that’s another story. Deanna had just gotten herself some funky-fresh bangs, and she gave me the courage to do the same!
So I go on the net and surf for a pic of one of my favorite actresses – Reese Witherspoon. Those of you who aren’t in on the Hollywood gossip scene may not recall …. but Ms. Spoon went through a painful divorce awhile back, went into hiding, and then came out of seclusion with a Kick-A new look. She had the same funky-fresh bangs as my friend Deanna.
So, I decide, I’m taking the plunge. I’m going ALL bang. No side-swept bangs for me, no sir .. I’m committing to full on bangs.
My stylist does a wonderful job. Gives me a razored layered cut with funky-fresh bangs. I leave the salon with a new sense of chic-ness. Don’t you LOVE that new ‘do feeling when you leave the salon??
Anyway, over the next few days my new bangs go from funky-fresh to what-the-crap. The FFBangs have waged war on me and WILL NOT cooperate! What have I done??
Fast forward a few days and I’m at my parents for lunch. I’m venting to my mother about how my FFBangs just won’t do right … and she looks at me and says “Keren, you’ve always had a prominent cal-lick on the right side of your forehead. It’s been there since birth, your hair stuck straight up as a baby in that same spot.” My jaw drops as I hear CRICKETS CHIRPING in the background! I look at her as if to say “WHY DIDN’T YOU TELL ME?!” and she looks back at me as if to say “I know everything about you, I birthed you, duh.”
*THE MORAL*
1. Always try new looks
2. Always stay up-to-date on styles
3. BUT FIRST ask your Mother if you need to know of any precautions to take!!

Change is a strange and funny thing. It’s an inevitable part of life. It affects every human being on this planet. It’s unescapable. It’s undeniable. It can happen in a SPLIT second.
If all of those things are true, then why is it that it is SO dag-gum hard to change? Why are we affected so much by change? Why are we so afraid of change?
We should be able to reflect, mold, and grow when change comes our way, and even become better people because of change. We should be prepared for it and embrace it as a natural part of life … ya know, roll with the punches.
I used to thrive on change. With each direction my life would go, change was like a welcomed roller coaster. I loved the twist, turns, and loop-de-loops. There is still a part of me that likes change. But today, all I can think about is how much change can hurt, that, and now I want to go ride roller coasters.

I have no idea why, but every 4 years this happens to me. I get OBSESSED with the presidential race. I want to know EVERYTHING there is to know about each candidate, no matter what their party affiliation. It’s very strange! I’m not a political person AT ALL!! But every 4 years I get the presidential bug.
I know I should care more about who is the Governor of my state, or the Mayor of my city .. but I don’t! I don’t even vote for those elections (I know that’s backwards, whatever, that’s how I am) There’s just something about knowing that MY vote during the presidential primary’s and the presidential election mean something. My vote effects the world. Especially in times like these .. the war, the economy, the social issues .. it’s so important!!
I have not picked a candidate to support yet. My mind still isn’t made up. I’m still narrowing the field and playing “pro’s and con’s”. But PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE exercise your right to vote! We are at a pivotal time in our nations history and every vote will count.

My purse was stolen yesterday from the bathroom at the office that I work in. Sure, it was my fault that I left the purse in the restroom. But, it was only there for like 7 minutes!! Within 30 min of the theft, the perp. had already been to 4 gas stations.
I have no (in order of importance to me):
1. money – c/c’s, debit cards, or cash
2. identification – driver’s license, school id’s, or social security card
3. key to my car or remote entry
4. eyelash curler – used at LEAST 10 times a day, maybe more
5. lip gloss – I can’t count how many times a day I use lip gloss
6. gum – bad breath is a sin
7. pure ground pepper – yes, I carry pepper in my purse. What??? That’s perfectly normal. I love black pepper. You can’t say anything, you are just as weird in your own way!!!
8. kroger plus card – I need this for my discounts, discounts are VERY important!!
This begins my HATE affair with the town I live in … I’m moving!!! Please tell me if you have any suggestions on where I can move.
On the bright side, I had my cell phone on my desk. So, at least I don’t have to replace that.
